03:02 pm - Think your car's safe on your driveway
Think again!!

Got home from a less than great day at work, sitting doing my make up ready to go out for works Christmas do, hear an almighty crash which literally shook the house (thought it was my chimney falling off) house mate shouts down "you'd better go and check your car i think someone just had an accident" so out my window i look and low and behold the above.

Some kid had lost control slammed on the brakes swerved across the road hit my wall knocked the end of it onto the back of my car, lost his wheel completely including axle and then carved a 1 inch deep line in the pavement for about 200 yards before coming to a stop.

The thing is i wasn't actually that annoyed, think i was refusing to admit it had happened and to be fair as we all know accidents happen and hte main thing is no one was hurt, but i have to admit to being just a teensy bit annoyed because i just got back to find that the highways department who i had been assured would clean it up have just swept all the debris into three piles at the end of my drive and left all the huge pieces of concrete there for me to lift, WTF?!?!?

So now i have to phone my insurance, i dont have a car as im not willing to drive it with damage so close to the fuel tank and i have to make a complaint to the police about not clearing up which they will say isnt their problem even though before i left i checked they would clear it up as i wasnt able to.

ARRRRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Above all else i am terrified they wont be able to get the bits they need to fix it or they say its a right off because i love that car and have said since ive had her that i would never part with her. ******* typical!!!!

12:53 pm - Lee Evans
Last night Ferne and I went to see Lee Evans in Brighton, weve had the tickets for ages as they were a 30th birthday present from her work friends.  So i left work an hour early went home got changed and off we headed.  A ridiculous, stuck behind slow cars, 1 1/2 later we arrived in Brighton and headed off for some food then onto the Brighton Centre.

By this point i was already tired and it was only 8pm.  So the show ended up finished at 11:30pm!!!! and it took up til 1 to get home because the car park was gridlock but it was a good show, quite a lot of rehashed old stuff which was a bit disappointing but good overall.  However note to self, do not go out in Brighton on a school night. zzzzzzzzzzz

10:22 pm - Camber Sands
As it was a gloriously sunny day today we went for a drive over to the new wind turbines with my camera, realised that they were on the marshland around Camber so decided to have a wander along the beach, i have lived 15 miles from Camber Sands for 2 years and have never been and really think ive missed out as its so lovely, the sand is perfect and stretches for miles, i even had a little paddle.  As for the wind turbines, i really am all for them, they are so graceful and really add something to the flat landscape just wish i could of got a bit closer.  Pics inside the cut.

03:32 pm - Septembers here already!
So its September already?!!? How did that happen, oh thats right we skipped Summer.  So obviously September is the month of the birth of our saviour Ferne Hathaway who turns 30 on the 13th and tomorrow morning is jetting off to the glamour of........Disneyworld!

Last night we went out for dinner to the Queens Head which was lovely, and i gave her her pressies and her cake, chocolate brownie with added galaxy caramel pieces and chocolate fudge icing.

Not a lot else happening i have absolutely no money and last week the TV blew up and water starting leaking in down the chimney breast in the office so im not in the best of moods.  Still temping and earning less money than i was when i was 20, its all good.  Just got free trade tickets through for 100% Design in London so im going to treat myself to a train ticket and have a day up in London on the 20th, need to see if i hate it as much as i remember because i might try and get some temp work up there to try and make a bit of money for a month or so but i have a feeling i will remember that i hate being covered in grime and being surrounded by so many people!

09:14 am - Update
So whats new, well i have been temping for East Sussex County Council for the last few months and am now covering Cat down on the seafront till the end of the month.  I have been seeing someone i met at the council for the last few months which has been fun and has made the temping more bearable.  Going to the Battle Proms on Sunday night which im really looking forward to as i didnt get to go last year because i was ill, should be good hopefully nice picnic and fireworks just hope it doesnt rain!

Other than that i have taken my house off the market, things just arent moving with the market the way things are so im going to wait until the new year and then decide what to do, on the flip side there is nothing on the market that i would be interested in anyway so its not too bad but could really do with the money.  Hastings has no work really and what work it does have pays appallingly.

Course work is going ok hoping to have the first three subjects finished in the next month so that ill still be on target for the three years, looking back over how much ive done so far i dont know how ive managed it.

Last weeked we had a surprise party for Fernes 30th which went well and that she hopefully enjoyed and then she is heading off to Florida on the 11th for a week to meet Mickey!

Think thats the main bits, will update when i have more news.

01:42 pm - Drama
I managed to make that last post whilst completely forgetting what happened this morning...

....so i am working in a big high building at the moment with the train station behind us and someone said 'look outside theres loads of police' so we look and there are indeed lots of police as well as 2 fire engines, an amublance and a paramedic.  Turns out some guy was on his bike on the platform fell off and landed on the live rail on the track.  So we watched what was happening and saw him get taken away and thought nothing more of it....

...then ive just spoken to Ferne who is off today and she tells me that Cat next door was at the station (she was going to London which she hasnt done in the whole time ive known her) and saw the whole thing and was in tears and is really shaken up.

Can you imagine it must be awful because you couldnt help because they have to wait to turn the power off.  Turns out he is still alive but has life threatening burns all over him!

01:39 pm - Random Update
Feel that i should update as ive not done for a while so whats happening......

....well ive been temping for the last 6 weeks at various places around East Sussex County Council.  Met some nice people and the work hasnt been too bad.  House still hasnt sold, havent actually had a viewing for about a month but i havent seen anything i would like so its not too bad but it does mean that i am still very very poor.  Other than that not a lot happening, got someone i worked with coming for dinner tonight and it may be possible that they will die of garlic poisoning as ive over done it in a marinade ive done for some tomatoes then tomorrow im over in Eastbourne for dinner with another work friend so really not very rock and roll and exciting.

Will update again when i have more exciting news!

09:54 am - One Red.....
...Paperclip!

Ok so im a bit slow hearing about this as it happened over two years ago but Ferne just bought me a book called "One Red Paperclip" which I have just spent the last few night reading and I now want to share.

Its all about an American guy who decides one day that he wants to try and trade up from a single red paperclip to a house.  About half way through the story he lets slip that it would be fun to try and do it in a year which amazingly he did.  The book follows his travels across America and Canada trading up items which strangers who made him offers via his blog.  Its a really interesting read and i highly recommend it.  If you're too poor to buy the book have a read of his website;

In other news i have a stonking cold which is making me feel all feeble and requiring of sympathy.

01:25 pm - Neglect
God I cant believe i haven't posted anything on here since February, i am officially crap!

So whats been happening.  Well had my birthday in March (that makes it sound like you choose when to have it) it was ok, got some good pressies just went out in town for Chinese and then for a few drinks, God Hastings is chavy.  Oooo forgot Cat, Myles, Ferne and I went to Thorpe Park the week before my birthday, I LOVE it, we went on Stealth, Ferne and I went on it 3 times, its amazing, also the weather was a bit grey and not all the rides were open because the season hadn't really started but it meant that we hardly cued and got to go front and back on everything at least once.

Obviously we had snow down here a few weeks ago, went out with my camera and took some black and white shots in the park, which I would love to post but my computer is screwed and i cant access anything.  I also got given some dark room kit on freecycle so am now all ready to set up the office and do some old fashioned manual stuff (you remember where you have film and chemicals!! :) )

What else, hmmmm, well im not working at the mo, parted company with the last place, how do i keep picking places that are so dodgy?? So i am very poor but have been covering Cat nexts door holiday so thats a bit of cash but shes back now, there is NO work in Hastings, its a pain in the arse.

House still hasnt sold, not looking good at the moment the market as you all know is screwed so getting a bit worried about that.  Not sure whether i want to stay in Hastings or not, think i might move a little bit outside to one of the villages, i am determined to get chickens eventually.

In other news i am no longer on mad person drugs, one week clear and counting, ive quit smoking, gone veggie again and am on a diet (i dont do things by halfs)  My poor car has had another run in with an idiot, this time the RAC man who changed the windscreen ready for the MOT (which is today so fingers crossed) managed to gouge to massive slits in my dashboard so now i am in the process of fighting them to get that replaced, she really is cursed.

Getting through my course quite quickly now, im on track to of finished the first 3 books in 9 months which is very fast, im so impatient i just want it finished, oh well only another 2 years to go!

Think thats the main bits from the last couple of months, i will post pics of the snow as soon as i get my computer up and running again, just need to get hold of some OS X discs from somewhere.

10:28 am - Project Update
Spent last Saturday with rubber gloves, dust sheets and Nitro Mors stripping the veneer and old varnish off the bureau.  5 hours i think it took what a palaver, enjoyed it though.  I then removed some of the sectioning sheets so that i can fit my subwoofer in there.  So here are the pics of where i am at now.  Just need to decide how i want to finish it off, oil, varnish, stain, wax???  Also think i am going to paint the inside of the lid dark green so its a bit of a contrast to the wood.

09:50 am - Anger!!!!!!
So to get everyone up to date Ferne and I went to a pub in Battle for dinner on Saturday night, lovely meal nice evening until we come out and find a car parked almost at a right angle to mine with his bumper under my wheel arch.  Surprisingly considering it was less than a month ago that i got that side resprayed we go back into the pub and ask the Barlady to find the owner.  20 mins later some youngish guy comes out and says "oh have i blocked you in" "yes and youve hit my car" "I have not my girlfriend guided me in" "Right well go and have a look" so he has a look and sees that his car is trying to get into my car and admits he may of hit it, so he moves his car forward a bit i get out my torch and low and behold hes scratched the paintwork off my wheel arch.  So im trying to be nice and calm and not get angry so i ask for his insurance details and name and address etc which he gives.  All is very amicable and i tell him i will go back to where i got it resprayed to get an idea of how much its going to cost in case he doesnt want to claim for it.  So i go to the garage on Monday who say 2 panels need respraying and its going to cost about £200 so i call and leave a message with his Dad.

Fast forward to 9:30pm last night, phone rings, goes to answerphone, person hangs up, phone rings again, same thing, phone rings AGAIN same thing, so i 1471 and call back.

"hello who is this you keep calling me"
"Oh hello Claire my names Mrs Black im calling on behalf of Alan"

Long story short she starts telling me ive broken the law because i didnt give him my insurance details, and i have no photos and i didnt call the police.

So theres me getting VERY irate and asking who the hell she is, turns out shes the aunty of the girlfriend who was supposed to of "guided" him in.  Shes saying that theres no way he hit me, theres no witnesses, etc etc.  So im fuming and saying how his car was at a right angle to mine, there were witnesses etc etc.  I refused to give my insurance details, why would i HE HIT ME.  So after half an hour i agree to take my car to this garage they recommend to get another quote.  Now i have no problem with that but dont phone me late at night and start accusing me of lying and basically implying that i somehow mounted his car whilst parked!!!!!

I am very very very angry, didnt get to sleep till midnight because i was fuming so much, people are such dishonest bastards.  So today i am going to take it to this other garage and see what they say.  There is no way i am walking away without them paying.

I will update with the next part when it happens!!

I am now the proud owner of this

Someone was Freecycling it and i couldn't resist, as you can see it is in a bit of a state but im really looking forward to fixing it (no idea why i think i have the time).  Problem is i have no idea what type of wood it is and i need to buy some new veneer, any guesses anyone?

08:40 am - Neglect
Ok time to post as i have clearly been neglecting to for a while.

So whats been happening.

Ive been plugging away at my course, decided to stop Materials for a while and have a go at History and Drafting, History is proving very long winded, each test of the 10 is a 2000 word essay so its going to take some time.  Drafting though is actually really enjoyable and so far for my first two tests i have got 97% and 96% so am quite chuffed.

In other news i had my 3 month anniversary at work on the 17th so thats all good.  I put the house on the market a couple of weeks ago and have found a house i love with a huge kitchen but well have to wait and see what happens as things are so quiet with the housing market at the moment.

Other than that business as usual not much to report im afraid.  Im working full time this week as my colleague is off with an emergency.  I HATE getting up early, i have to be in at 8am which means i have to get up at 7am, its actually painful!!  Hoping things will be back to normal next week, dont think i can cope with another week of no lay ins.
